Port Macquarie, Australia
Amidst a network of rivers, lakes, beaches and the stunning rocky headlands of the east coast of Australia, lies the idyllic town of Port Macquarie.
The splendour of God’s creation is evident in whichever direction you look, making this exquisite destination the perfect place for brethren to meet for the Feast of Tabernacles this year.
With Port Macquarie claiming some of the most magnificent beaches, pristine waterways, beautiful nature reserves and interesting history in Australia, it is a coastal resort town that has an abundance of things to do for everyone.
Port Macquarie has a grassy play area that runs from the river’s mouth to the beach, separating open-air restaurants and cafes from the water.
There are many things to do and places to see for all ages and all tastes. Brethren can enjoy a variety of aquatic activities including: water-skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, canoeing, scuba diving, swimming, fishing, boating, cruising and surfing! Port Macquarie is also well known for whale and dolphin watching. The gentle giants of the sea migrate along the coast from May through to November each year and dolphins are sited in the surrounding rivers all year round.
Away from the water there are many other exciting attractions for families and brethren to enjoy together. Horse riding trials provide an opportunity to travel through Australia’s spectacular bushland and see a wonderful variety of flora and fauna. At ‘Timbertown’ people can step back in time to experience a living breathing depiction of a 1876 saw miller’s village. Alternatively, tickle your taste buds with tomato and strawberry picking at a local tourist farm! Feast goers will not be able to miss the Koala Hospital which offers a rare insight into habits of one of the world’s most endearing creatures. Other activities include bowling, mini golf and go-karting as well as there being a number of galleries and wineries scattered throughout Port Macquarie’s hinterland.
