Gimli, MB, Canada

A haven for settlers who founded New Iceland on the shore of Lake Winnipeg in 1875, welcome to Gimli, Manitoba, Canada. This Feast site is situated right on the shore of Lake Winnipeg, the sixth largest lake of Canada. The peaceful shore line makes it ideal to relax and enjoy the blessings that God provides for us at the Feast of Tabernacles.

The resort is situated in a quaint little town, with many nature activities and restaurants in walking distance. You can browse in the resort town's art galleries, dine on fresh lake pickerel at one of the homey cafés or at the Lakeview Resort’s dining room, overlooking the beach and harbour, and enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub.  Gimli is an ideal staging area for scenic drives and bicycle rides to the small towns, beaches, unique eateries and artists' studios that proliferate on the west side of the lake. Watch for pelicans, bald eagles, ducks and purple martins, which have their own downtown apartment tower.

Gimli is also known for the “Gimli Glider.” Air Canada Flight 143, a flight between Mon-treal and Edmonton, ran out of fuel on July 23, 1983, at an altitude of 41,000 feet (12, 000 m), midway through its course. The crew was able to glide the Boeing 767 aircraft safely to an emergency landing at a former Royal Canadian Air Force base in Gimli, which has been turned into a motor racing track still active today. This unusual aviation incident earned the aircraft the nickname of "Gimli Glider." It is also the location of the distillery for the Crown Royal Whisky brand, which can be visited.

Come and join us where God has put His name in the Prairies, so that we can learn to fear Him always. See you in Gimli.
